ADULT MUSIC MINISTRY
Covenant's Chancel Choir is directed by Mrs. Karen Molloy. Mrs. Molloy received a BA in Music Education with a major in voice from Pfeiffer University. She has taught grades Kindergarten through High School in the South Jersey area, been the musical director for over 25 high school and college musicals, and has been a successful private voice and piano instructor for many years. The choir of approximately 25 members regularly sings for Sunday worship providing the congregation with a variety of challenging SATB anthems ranging from contemporary to classical.
Covenant's organist/accompanist is Matt Hyzer, a graduate with an Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Matt's BA is in Jazz Piano Performance. Matt is an accomplished published arranger of both sacred and secular works. His compositions have been selected as the "Editor's Choice" in several major music publishing companies. In addition to composing, Matt presently teaches private piano lessons. His unique jazz style on piano regularly enhances Covenant's Sunday morning services. His web site is www.MattHyzer.com.
Covenant's Adult Bell Choir have been a part of the worship since its debut in the fall of 1999. Under the direction of Carol Lovell, the choir is made up of twelve ringers and a number of regular substitutes,
ringing four octaves of handbells and handchimes. The choir typically rings during worship one Sunday each month, and also participates in Easter, Christmas, and other special services. Rehearsals are held
every Tuesday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
The Bell Choir's musical taste would best be described as "far ranging", including classical, traditional, gospel, contemporary, and praise styles.
